The TCPS High School Remote Learning Program (which began on March 23rd) has been very successful thanks to the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff. As we move into the next phase of the program the following enhancements are already under way.
- Live Streaming: Students have much more opportunity to interact live on-line with their peers and with the teacher. Of course, we continue to cover curriculum, but we want to do so in a way that also enhances the “social component” of school.
- On-Line Clubs: In “Phase Two”, we began exploring ways of bringing some of our school clubs on-line and currently have implemented the Art Club and STRIVE on-line. These clubs are very meaningful to our students and have a very positive impact on our school culture. The intention is to find ways for the members to meet and plan events remotely. Again, it is our hope this enhances the students’ ability to interact socially.
- Managing time on-line: By working hard, both during the regular school year and through remote learning over the past two weeks, our students are in a much better situation than students in most other schools. Because of this work, there is less pressure to “cover curriculum”. As such, we can afford to reduce the amount of time students are going to be required to be on their computers.
Our faculty are continuing to work extremely hard to ensure that our students are supported in every respect. We will continue to serve our mandate which is to prepare our students as best we can for future success in every sense of the word. I am extremely proud of the work that has been done so far and look forward to even better things in the coming weeks. We are all in this together. I know that through mutual cooperation and respect, we will all come out of this most challenging time successfully.
