For the 15th consecutive year, the students and staff at Town Centre Montessori Private Schools have embraced Terry’s dream to find a cure for cancer. Leading up to our annual Terry Fox Run the focus was on fund raising and awareness of Terry Fox, his courage, and determination in his attempt to run across Canada.
On the morning of Wednesday, September 30th, our official Terry Fox Run took place. Each elementary student following social distancing protocols, committed to join in and walk, jog or run in support of cancer research, all in the name of Terry Fox. At the Main Campus the younger elementary students ran in the parking lot and, with rain clouds building, the grades 6, 7 and 8 students opted to run in the Main Gymnasium. Students, parents and close relatives supported the walk with generous donations, and we are hoping to reach our goal of raising $13,000 this year for the Terry Fox Foundation.
Terry Fox’s memory and legacy continues to grow through student involvement and generous financial contributions, all while fostering our school spirit and our commitment to “give back” to our community and support this worthy cause. Since 2006, TCPS has raised an amazing grand total of $209,822.43 for the Terry Fox Foundation! Donations can still be made online, until October 15, 2020.
