A Strong Start for the New TCPS Grade 6–8 Leadership Camp

New for 2026, the TCPS Grade 6–8 Leadership Camp launched this week with tremendous energy and enthusiasm, providing students with meaningful opportunities to develop essential leadership skills while building confidence, character, and community. Throughout the week, participants engaged in a carefully designed program that combined personal growth, practical skill development, teamwork, and adventure.

The camp began on Monday with an introduction to the fundamentals of leadership. Through interactive icebreaker activities and collaborative challenges, students formed new connections while exploring what leadership means and identifying their own unique leadership styles. The day set a positive foundation for a week focused on self-discovery and growth.

On Tuesday, students enjoyed a special workshop on Powering Possibilities: Skilled Trades & Digital Leadership. Participants explored the world of skilled trades through a hands-on workshop led by an industry professional while gaining insight into leadership, communication, and the role of social media in today’s world.

Wednesday provided an opportunity for students to gain valuable real-world skills through a First Aid Certification course. Participants learned essential emergency response techniques and developed the knowledge and confidence needed to help keep themselves and others safe in a variety of situations.

The adventure continued on Thursday with a field trip to Treetop Trekking. Students challenged themselves by climbing, balancing, and zip-lining through elevated obstacle courses high in the forest canopy. The experience encouraged perseverance, problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience while creating lasting memories.

The week concluded on Friday with a session on personal finance and budgeting. Future leaders explored the fundamentals of financial literacy, learning how to plan budgets, allocate resources, and manage expenses for events or projects. These practical skills will serve students well as they continue to develop as responsible and capable leaders.

The first week of the TCPS Grade 6–8 Leadership Camp has been an outstanding success, and we look forward to seeing our students continue to grow, lead, and inspire throughout the remainder of the program.
