As we begin another exciting school year, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning students, parents, and staff. This September is particularly special as Town Centre Private Schools celebrates its 40th Anniversary, marking four decades of educational excellence, innovation, and community.

Our story began in humble surroundings, with classes held in a church basement near Brimley and Brimorton Road in Scarborough. From those early beginnings, TCPS has grown and flourished, expanding through several locations before establishing our permanent homes at the Clayton and Amarillo campuses. Throughout this remarkable journey, generations of dedicated educators, staff members, students, and families have contributed to the success and growth of our school community. Their commitment and vision have helped shape TCPS into the exceptional school it is today.

As part of our anniversary celebrations, we will be reflecting on our history and recognizing many of the individuals who helped build and strengthen our school. Through our social media platforms, we will feature a series called “TCPS Builders,” highlighting the contributions of staff members whose dedication has played an important role in our growth. We will also share memorable moments from the past 40 years, celebrating the traditions, achievements, and milestones that have defined the TCPS experience.

While we celebrate our past, we remain firmly focused on the future. One of the most exciting initiatives currently underway is Project Inspire, the transformation of our playground into a vibrant new sports and activity centre. This revitalized space will provide enhanced opportunities for physical activity, recreation, and student engagement for many years to come.

As York Region’s only IB Continuum World School, TCPS continues to offer a unique educational journey from Preparatory through High School. Our commitment to academic excellence and innovation remains stronger than ever. In our Preschool Montessori programs, caring educators create nurturing environments that encourage curiosity, independence, and confidence in every child.

We are also proud of our continued investment in emerging areas of learning. The recent introduction of Computer Science in our Preparatory program has been highly successful, and we look forward to expanding those opportunities in the years ahead. Our elementary students continue to excel academically, particularly in the Mathematica competition, where many have achieved outstanding results, including 10 students being recognized as Canadian Champions. This past year, our Grade 6 students also embraced the creative possibilities of artificial intelligence by incorporating AI-generated digital illustrations into their original written stories. These works form part of our growing Student Stories Anthology Series, which is catalogued in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), providing students with a lasting opportunity to showcase their creativity, storytelling abilities, and digital literacy skills.

Learning extends well beyond the classroom at TCPS. Through regular educational excursions, experiential learning opportunities, athletics, leadership programs, and community involvement, our students develop the skills and character necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world. Our High School continues to achieve impressive outcomes, with graduates earning admission and scholarships to their universities of choice while benefiting from the personalized attention that comes with smaller class sizes.

We are equally proud of the initiative shown by our students. Last year, several of our high school students launched the Town Centre Weekly News on Instagram, creating a new platform for sharing school news and student perspectives. We look forward to continuing and expanding this student-led initiative throughout the coming year.

As we celebrate 40 years of excellence, we do so with gratitude for everyone who has been part of the TCPS journey. Our history is a source of pride, but our future is even brighter. Together, we will continue to inspire, innovate, and provide exceptional educational experiences for every student entrusted to our care.
