Celebrating Excellence: TCPS 2026 High School Awards BanquetHigh School NewsTCPS News News TCPS News Pre-School News Elementary School News High School News The High School Awards Banquet remains a cherished annual tradition at TCPS, bringing together students and staff to celebrate a year of dedication, achievement, and community. This year’s banquet took place on Monday, June 1st, in the Main Gymnasium, offering a memorable experience for students in Grades 9 through 12. The afternoon began with a catered lunch that provided a welcoming opportunity for students and faculty to connect and reflect on the year’s accomplishments. Following the meal, the formal awards ceremony recognized the diverse achievements of our student body. Academic excellence was honored through a range of awards, including recognition for outstanding performance in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. These awards highlighted the commitment and perseverance required to excel within this rigorous academic framework. Beyond the classroom, students were acknowledged for their exceptional involvement in extracurricular activities and competitive events. Participants in DECA (Business), Model United Nations (MUN), HOSA (Health Sciences), STEM and the York Region Science and Technology Fair, University of Toronto’s High School Design Competition and Designapalooza were celebrated for their success in interschool competitions. Each student called to the stage exemplified initiative, creativity, and determination. The arts were also prominently recognized, with this year’s Arts Night participants applauded for their contributions to the school production of The Emperor’s New Clothes. Their creativity and collaboration brought the performance to life and enriched the school community. Athletics played an equally important role in the celebration. Coaches reflected on the season, commending student-athletes for their skill, sportsmanship, and commitment. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Athlete of the Year awards—both male and female—for each grade level, as well as the much-anticipated Superfan Award, recognizing outstanding school spirit and support. The Student Activity Council (SAC) elections results were also declared introducing the students to the 2026-2027 SAC President, Vice-President, Grade Rep, Events and Spirit Coordinator and Media, Communications and Outreach Coordinator for the coming school year. Congratulations to the new SAC! The celebration concluded on a nostalgic note with the distribution of the 2025–2026 yearbooks. Students gathered to sign one another’s books, capturing memories and friendships from the year. The 2026 High School Awards Banquet was a fitting tribute to the accomplishments, talents, and spirit of the TCPS community—an event that continues to inspire pride and celebrate excellence across all areas of student life.
