Celebrating Global Cultures: A Joyous International Day at Our SchoolElementary School NewsTCPS News News TCPS News Pre-School News Elementary School News High School News On Thursday, March 12, our grade 2 – 8 students came together to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that made our learning environment so vibrant and unique. International Day is a cherished tradition—one that highlights the importance of diversity, encouraging global awareness, and providing inclusive opportunities for every student to share and learn from one another. Students were invited to wear traditional or cultural attire, heritage colours, or clothing that reflected their background. This created a warm, respectful, and meaningful display of identity and pride throughout the school. A highlight of the day was our much‑anticipated cultural potluck. Each classroom enjoyed a shared meal featuring dishes brought by students and families, and included each dish’s name, cultural origin, and its significance or typical occasion. This tradition offered a wonderful opportunity for storytelling, connection, and learning through food. In the afternoon, students participated in a series of community-building activities designed to deepen cultural appreciation and strengthen school spirit: Classroom Cultural Showcase: Students shared talents, traditions, music, short dances, and stories connected to their heritage. House League Cultural Trivia: Friendly team‑based competition encouraged students to explore fascinating facts about countries and cultures around the world. “We Are TC: A Celebration of Cultures” Video Project: Students collaborated to create a commemorative video honouring the diversity of our school community, which was shared in classrooms as a culminating experience. The entire day was filled with joy, pride, and meaningful moments of connection. Thank you to all students, families, and staff who contributed their time, creativity, and cultural traditions to make International Day a memorable and enriching experience for our school community.
