Growing Green Together: Grade 1 Earth Week ActivitiesElementary School NewsTCPS News News TCPS News Pre-School News Elementary School News High School News Earth Day took place on Wednesday, April 22, and our Grade 1 classes organized a series of activities throughout the week to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable habits within our school community. As part of the celebration, students participated in the Litter‑Free Lunch Challenge, bringing lunches packed in reusable containers, water bottles, and utensils while avoiding single‑use items such as plastic bags, wrappers, and disposable cutlery. This initiative helped reinforce eco‑friendly practices both at school and at home, and students earned House League points for their participation. In addition, students took part in Our Earth, Our Promises, a grade‑wide activity where they created Earth Day projects using recycled materials. Each project included an interactive, nature‑inspired element designed to spark curiosity and deepen appreciation for the environment. The week concluded on Friday, April 24, with an Outdoor Reading Initiative during which students spent a class period reading outdoors. This activity supported energy conservation while allowing students to enjoy fresh air and natural surroundings, reinforcing the connection between learning and the environment.
