Pre-School Division Inspired by Phyllis Webstad’s story, the orange shirt symbolizes the message that Every Child Matters. At TCPS, all staff and students wore orange to show support, while classrooms engaged in meaningful discussions and activities that promote reflection, empathy, and understanding. Elementary Division Elementary students wore orange shirts and explored the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada. The day began with Grade 8 students leading a Land Acknowledgement and each classroom engaged in meaningful discussions and learning experiences to honour the day’s importance. High School Division High school students engaged in classroom discussions and educational sessions focused on the history and ongoing effects of residential schools. Continuing a meaningful tradition, students and staff gathered around the school’s commemorative tree in the SAC yard—a living symbol of growth, remembrance, and hope. This act of reflection served as a powerful reminder of the importance of learning from the past and committing to a future rooted in understanding and change. Town Centre Private Schools is proud of its students and educators for their thoughtful participation and continued commitment to truth and reconciliation.
