Grade 8 Graduation The grade 8 students participated in their graduation ceremony on the morning of June 21st. It was a wonderful occasion for them to come together and celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of this year’s graduating class. As each of the 45 graduates was summoned on stage to receive their diploma, the crowd erupted with applause from proud parents, staff and fellow students. In addition to the formal graduation ceremony, students who earned special awards were also presented with their individual medals in the following areas: highest mark in each subject area, honour roll (80% average or higher), principal’s list (90% average or higher), the Canada-wide Mathematica Contest’s top ranking students, STEM Fair and Ted Talk winners. The speech from this year’s Valedictorian, Isha, was heartfelt and helped make the 2022 graduation a truly memorable day for everyone in attendance. Following the graduation ceremony students, dressed in formal attire, and staff travelled by bus to the Crystal Fountain Banquet Hall for a special afternoon luncheon and dance. It was a great way to celebrate graduating with their friends. As our grade 8 students bid farewell to elementary school and look forward to their next step of their educational journey starting in September at TCPS high school. Grades 5 and 7 TED Talks Contest Winners! This year, grade 5 and 7 Town Centre students once again engaged in the highly popular and informative TCPS TED Talks. The TED Talks are an important part of Language Arts classes that enable students to connect to concepts across the curriculum and exercise their skills in inquiry, research and communication. The grade 5 and grade 7 students recently presented to their teachers and fellow classmates. Alumni Shares his University Experience with grade 11 & 12 students On Friday, June 10th, the grade 11 and 12 students had the opportunity to learn about the university experience from a TCPS Alumnus. Joining us for the educational workshop was Manojh Rajasri (class of 2018) who in 2021 completed his Bachelor of Law degree at the University of Leicester, England. He shared with the students the need to research the universities, the city and neighbourhood in which you plan to live and financial planning. Manojh provided valuable advice that he learned during the process of applying to an overseas university and the challenges and advantages he experienced. Manojh’s PowerPoint presentation was very informative and he gave the students plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Manojh is currently attending the Toronto Metropolitan University’s Law Practice Program (LPP). The LPP combines an innovative practical training component with hands-on work placement. Thank you to Manohj for taking the time to share his experience with our students. We wish him all the best for his future legal career.
