University of Waterloo Mathematics Contest Awards! TCPS High School students participated in the annual University of Waterloo’s Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing Contests earlier this year. These contests provide students with the opportunity to have fun and to develop their mathematical skills. Students are recognized with certificates for placing in the top 25% and medals are given to those students who achieved the highest score in the school. Montessori Education Week Between April 19th and April 23rd our Pre-School students participated in our annual Montessori Education Week, where students learned about the life and work of Dr. Maria Montessori and her unique method of education. Students also had the opportunity to watch a video on the life and work of Dr. Maria Montessori. As part of the week’s activities, classes created Montessori themed crafts including constructing polygon cards, making nomenclature cards of the and creating booklets describing the various Montessori activity areas and how Montessori differs from a conventional classroom. The Montessori Method of education has been in practice for 114 years, has stood the test of time and continues to be affirmed by research years later. Montessori Education is a lifelong, life-fulfilling process.
