Elementary Winter Festival TCPS happily welcomed back staff and students on Tuesday, February 16th to the start of the TCPS Elementary Winter Festival. From February 16th to19th, Elementary students and staff participated in fun winter-themed dress-up days including Toque Tuesday Day, Jersey Day, Flannel Shirt Day, and House League Shirt Day. Everyone joined in and put together some great looks. On our final day of the TCPS Winter Festival, students represented their House League teams and participated in some fun indoor and outdoor winter activities! What a great way to welcome back the students to school this week! HOSA Club This year TCPS High School students introduced and launched a new club, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America). This is a well-known organization that focuses on health-related topics and provides opportunities to compete in Canada’s largest health science competition. Topics include behavioural health, medical terminology, veterinary science, forensic science and more. Students will have the chance to explore the field of health science, develop relevant skills, collaborate with peers, and get involved in the school. Congratulations go out to everyone in HOSA for participating in the Fall Leadership Conference! The written competition took place online between December 6th and 12th. Students were tested on topics ranging from Medical Terminology, Veterinary Science, Forensic Science and many more. Members reported having both an educational and positive experience. HOSA members care currently preparing for the Spring Leadership Conference where their knowledge will be tested once more through either a healthy debate, another written exam, or presentation. This conference will consist of two rounds the first of which will take place from May 1st to May 6th. Qualifiers will then advance to Round 2 from May 8th to May 9th. Good luck to our participating HOSA members! STRIVE Raises Funds for Relief in Yemen Our STRIVE club members continue to brainstorm, research, and find important causes to support. Conducting fundraisers this year has been different than past years, but our students have risen to the challenge! Students recently had the opportunity to participate in a raffle fundraiser, organized by STRIVE, to support the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Yemen is facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in history with approximately 80% of the population requiring some sort of need of protection and assistance. The STRIVE Club has chosen UNHCR which is a non-profit organization for our global goal so all our donations can go towards the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Our global goal is to raise $500 throughout the school year. Thanks to the generosity of the TCPS community, we have already surpassed our goal!
