Special Guest Speaker to Commemorate the National Day for Truth and ReconciliationElementary School NewsTCPS News News TCPS News Pre-School News Elementary School News High School News September 29th marked the 2nd annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Students wore orange shirts to honour the victims and survivors of residential schools. It was a day to listen, reflect and learn about Canada’s past, in hopes of a better future for Indigenous people. On October 4th, grade 6, 7 and 8 students had a special guest speaker, Karen Chaboyer, an Ojibwa mother and grandmother of two of our own Elementary students. As a child she went to St. Margaret Indian Residential School for 9 years. She shared her story and answered questions from our students. Thank you to Ms. Chaboyer for this educational and informative presentation.
