Thank You Teachers of TCPS! The Elementary students of Town Centre Private Schools wrote and shared messages and memories of their teachers. These were put together in the video below to show their teachers how much they are appreciated. Mental, Emotional and Physical Health Awareness To promote Canada’s Mental Health Awareness Week from May 2nd to 8th, the STRIVE Club hosted events, workshops, games and presentations throughout the week bringing awareness to the importance of mental health. Coordinated by STRIVE members the week’s events included placing sticky notes on each student’s locker with a personalized message of positivity, being aware of our own mental and emotional health and taking a beneficial break when needed. A mental health presentation on this year’s theme of Empathy was also shared with the students. The week concluded with student’s being invited to pick up envelopes from the STRIVE board that they can keep and open to reveal a positive message when needed. Part of mental health is physical health. On Friday, May 13th, the High School collectively headed to Highgate Park for the afternoon to celebrate Spring Fest. Stations were set up at the park with various activities including bocce ball, soccer shootout, rock paper scissors relay, volleyball keep up and Frisbee Toss. The day concluded with a game of tug-of-war. The weather was perfect and it was a great afternoon to get out, get some sun and have fun. Thank you to our dedicated STRIVE Club members and teachers Ms. Somji-Moorani and Mr. Montana for bringing mental and emotional awareness to our students and to Mr. T. for organizing the fantastic Spring Fest event at the park. TCPS Students Place in top 25% in BMO Financial Group Finance Research and Trading Lab (Rotman FRT-Lab) High School Market Simulation Challenge On May 10th, TCPS High School students from grades 11 and 12 participated in the 9th High School Market Simulation Challenge hosted by the BMO Financial Group Finance Research and Trading Lab (Rotman FRT-Lab). The Rotman FRT-Lab is a state-of-the-art facility at the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management that contributes to the integration of theory and practice, running interactive simulation-based learning sessions and providing students with real-time access to financial resources and databases. This Challenge provides exceptional high school students with an introduction to the field of finance and an opportunity to learn through simulated business scenarios. The competition was open to students in grades 11 and 12 who have applied to the U of T Rotman School of Management. TCPS students were joined by senior high school students from over 200 schools across Canada. Our TCPS students performed exceptionally well with one of our teams making over $200,000 profit in the simulation rounds and our school placed in the top 25% of schools in Canada. This was a great opportunity for students to explore real world business experiences. Congratulations to our participants!
