Clubs and Organizations

At Town Centre Private Schools the High School students have the opportunity to join and participate in a variety of extracurricular clubs and organizations to round our their High School experience.  The following club and organizations are available during the 2020-2021 school year.

STRIVE Club

TCPS is especially proud of this unique club consisting of dedicated students who strive to make a positive difference in the world.  The main goal of STRIVE is to raise the standard of living for children and students around the world. STRIVE is based on the “Kids Helping Kids” concept.  In addition to the members volunteering their time with local organizations, the club also organizes a variety of fundraising events for selected charities. Thank you to all the students who participate in the various fundraising events throughout the year.

DECADECA Club at Regional Competition

DECA is an innovative, experiential learning program that is designed to help students learn more about business. By role-playing, examining case studies, participating in business scenarios and making presentations, TCPS students learn how to apply the skills they’ve learned in business studies to the real world. Students participate in a variety of contests that test their knowledge of different subjects, including accounting, entrepreneurship, leadership and management, international business, marketing and merchandising, and information and communication technology.

Students also have the opportunity to compete, either as individuals or in small teams – some choose to do both. Competitions combine a written test with a timed scenario, where students apply their knowledge and present a plan of action to an experienced business teacher. Regional competitions are held in the Fall, provincial in the Spring.

HOSA

HOSA is a student organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of healthcare provided by future professionals through teaching techniques, training, and leadership opportunities.  Each year, high school students will have a chance to compete in local and national science competitions.

Model United Nations (MUN)

Model United Nations Club teaches students to speak publicly, develop research and leadership skills. Students typically roleplay delegates in the UN, and debate on common topics like security, climate change, world health, food security and youth empowerment.

Art Club

Art Club allows students to create visual work by exploring and learning different techniques using various materials.  Members can display their work in an online platform such as Teams, and some submissions are featured in the Yearbook.

Photography / Video Club

Photography/Video Club provides students with the opportunity to grow their knowledge and understanding in Photography and Video recording. Students meet to discuss topics in the industry, media used, and are given tasks to complete that further develop their skills, or contribute to the digital and printed content for the school.

Film Festival Club

Students will have the opportunity to get in on the ground level of creation; they will explore their writing skills, acting skills, directing skills and staging. This year’s long incubation will culminate in a VIP evening.

Planting Club

Planting Club is a new club this year. Students will plant and take care of some herbs, fruits and/or vegetables. This will make our classrooms/homes greener and provide clear air. We are helping the planet, one grain/seed at a time.

Book Club

A new, exciting extracurricular opportunity for our High School students this year is the Book Club. Students will choose their books based on their favourite genres/themes and expand their knowledge through shared discussion and collaboration with team members. Club members will virtually meet on the first Friday of every month.
